Vintage, heavy, sterling silver & turquoise Taxco necklace. 55g. Unisex. Hallmarked.
€230.00
Sterling silver necklace from Mexico with inlaid turquoise chips set in black epoxy. This is a statement piece, striking for its size, colour, and design.
I believe the centrepiece depicts a pair of 'peyote birds' engaged in a ritualised mating dance, their sinuous necks mirroring one another and their wing and tail feathers cascading down. Peyote or 'water birds' represent the renewal of life, rainy seasons, and distant vision. the chain of the necklace is comprised of links shaped like waterdrops, each also inlaid with turquoise chips.
Stamped "Mexico, TL-119, 925" to clasp.
Excellent vintage condition with no noted flaws. Box slide clasp tight and secure.
Approximate measurements: 20" length, centerpiece is 2 1/4" wide 1 3/4 long; 55.5g.
Combined shipping only applies to items of similar size and weight.
