1930s Art Deco Hatpin, Laminated Rainbow Early Plastic, Collar Pin
€65.00
A fantastic and rare example of 1930s exuberance for colour, lamination, geometrics, and stripes -- featuring a brass stickpin terminating at each end with a triangular sandwich of multi-coloured, rainbow-hued plastics.
One of the tips of this pin unscrews and the piece can be used as a hatpin, a collar pin, or to decorate a sweater. It should be noted that the pin is quite thick, so it is best suited to soft felts or loose knits, as it may leave a puncture mark on tighter weaves.
The pin shows some signs of age and wear including some nibbles, scuff, and scratches to the plastic (see pics), and a very slight bend to the middle of the pin.
Approximate measurements: 3 1/8" total length; triangles 7/8" long, 1/2" high, 1/4" thick; 3.5g.
Estate item sourced in Washington, DC.
Antique jewelry box pictured not included in sale.
